Gen-Z Mental Health

Gen Z and mental health are closely knit. As we move from generation X to Y to Z more of us have lost control on our mental health and well-being.

What can be the reason? We have got more freedom from what our parents had, we havegot better education facilities than our previous generation. Our world is more financially secured. Then why?

Aren’t these the reason for the trouble some mental health of ours. The more decisionmaking at early age was provided, the more confused we got. Abundance of everything around us has devalued it.

More access to the world through the internet has made us empty inside. As excessive internet use might create an increased degree of mental excitement, bringing about little rest, inability to eat for long stretches, and restricted active work, perhaps leading a person to physical and mental issues like depression, OCD, low family connections and anxiety.

Gen Z is much more stressed than the previous generation because of the societal pressure as we are always being compared to one another. Adolescence is an age where a person is a lot more vulnerable than normal. The tiniest of emotions/ judgments might affect a person so this is extremely wrong on the part of our society.

In this stressful modern world, pressures of daily life can lead to substance abuse. People start drinking alcohol as an escape, to get away from the reality. There are countless reasons why a person may want to dissociate from their life, and drinking or other substance abuse seems like the easiest way out.

For example, low self-esteem, mental illness, to alleviate their negative feelings etc.

Today we know more about the subject psychology from the very early age and we are more muddled than ever. Therefore we need to bring a change. We need to stop comparing ourselves with others, hang out more with people who have a positive approach as good relationships are important for our mental wellbeing. We can even try meditation to improve our mental health.

Remember mental well being is not a destination but a process!
