Heartwarming acts of kindness by celebrities

We have all seen the glitz and the glamour of what we see on screen. The blinding lights, the screaming fans, the glittering smiles. Many are inspired by the stars who have been giving us endless movies and shows to binge watch. We often view celebrities as superior, people who dont indulge in the “routine” things of life. However, they are just like us. Infact, many of them have showcased heartwarming acts of kindness which urges us to think, “If they can do it, so can we".

Keanu Reeves

The “John Wick” star is known for his kindness. In 1997, for example, there’s the story of the time he saw a homeless man on a Los Angeles street and sat down to share some snacks and a smoke. The moment was captured by a passer-by. Reeves has also donated money to children’s hospitals and to cancer research. The star reportedly runs a private charitable foundation that aims to help sick kids, but his name isn't attached to the organization.

John Cena

John Cena, a WWE favourite and talented wrestler, has made records for granting wishes as part of the Make a Wish Foundation. He has made not one, not two, but over 600 Make-A-Wish dreams come true. He once said: “I can think of no greater honour than someone who can have any wish they want in the world, yet they choose to spend their time with me. I will continue to grant wishes as long as there are children who request me.”

Harry Styles

Yes, Harry Styles, who had “Treat People With Kindness” all over his merch. He hasn’t just written it all over though, but also has been seen treating people with kindness. He once helped a fan who was having a panic attack. He paused mid-song and asked the crowd to give her room to breathe. "You still with me? Do you want to help her up? If everyone could give her some space, we'll get some people," he said. Moreover, after growing out his hair for years and chopping it to the film Dunkirk, Harry donated his hair to the UK’s Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children suffering from cancer.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams once gave up her first class seat on an airplane after seeing a fully-dressed soldier awaiting his flight back home. The actress was boarding a flight from Detroit to Los Angeles when she spotted a man wearing a US army uniform.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has done many things which are extremely sweet and heartwarming including hiring homeless people to be extras in some of his films and donating money to different causes. But one of the nicest things he ever did was answer the call of a nine-year-old girl in England who wanted to meet his Pirates of the Caribbean character, Jack Sparrow. Depp was so moved by the letter she wrote him, he decided to get into full wardrobe and head on over to her school to not only surprise her but all of her classmates too. Giving the school only ten minutes notice, he and a few other buddies came by dressed in full pirate gear. Depp spent 15 minutes at the school dancing with the children and signing autographs.

Taylor Swift

Heartbroken to have missed Taylor Swift's concert after she was diagnosed with leukaemia, a young fan called Naomi Oakes sent the star a video message. In response, Taylor Swift sent her a video message back and paid $50,000 towards her medical bills. She also left a personal message to her young fan. “To the beautiful and brave Naomi," she wrote. "I'm sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let's focus on getting you feeling better. I'm sending the biggest hugs to you and your family."

Ryan Gosling

The Notebook sweetheart has performed all kinds of kindness over the years. He once saved a woman by pulling her out of the way of the car that was going to hit her. He also helped breaking a fight between two men over a painting, in the middle of the street. In the end, it does not matter how huge the act of kindness is. A simple gesture of helping someone or making them feel better can make a huge difference. We can all try to do one kind thing everyday and bring a smile on someone’s face. - Prisha
